Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 surpassed two million copies sold in less than two weeks, which is a major achievement for the developers at Warhorse Studios. The medieval RPG, released on February 4 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, reached a million sales within the first day after release, and its success rate shows no signs of slowing down.

The announcement of the new record appeared on Warhorse Studios' social media, where the developers called the event a "triumph." The sequel also exceeded its predecessor in terms of player activity, reaching a peak of 256,206 concurrent players on Steam — more than double the peak of the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance, which reached 96,069 concurrent players.

The game's financial success is also significant. Studio director Daniel Vávra confirmed that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 already recouped the development budget after surpassing the one million copies sold mark. By comparison, Alan Wake 2, released at the end of 2023, only recently became profitable after several months of sales reaching two million copies.

The successful launch was a major victory for Embracer Group, the parent company of Warhorse Studios. Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors praised the team, stating that the successful game launch is testimony to the importance of giving creative studios the time and freedom to realize their ideas. "Sales exceed our expectations, and I believe that Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will generate significant revenue for many years to come," said Wingefors during the latest financial report.

Despite initial concerns about competition from Ubisoft's Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which led Warhorse to change the game's release date to February 4, this decision seems to have fully paid off. With the record-breaking start and planned content updates — including expansions, new customization options, and new gameplay features — Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has every chance for long-term success.
Whether the sequel can surpass the total sales of the first game, which sold a total of eight million copies, remains to be seen. However, given the current sales pace, this goal could be achieved much faster than its predecessor.

The game has become wildly successful due to many interesting mechanics that have been improved compared to the original, as well as even greater realism through world interaction: NPC behavior, an engaging storyline, consequences of actions and words, and more. Predominantly, the game received positive feedback from players and critics. The only drawbacks are a few minor bugs that appear in the game, but they do not spoil the overall impression.
