The Hideout in Assassin's Creed Shadows is one of the key components of immersion and gameplay. It not only allows you to catch your breath and relax after challenging missions but also serves as a strategic hub where you can: develop your character, replenish various tools, take on new contracts, and keep pets.
However, the main feature of the Hideout is to provide your heroes with passive effects for certain skills and bonuses that ease your progress through the game. To get the most benefit from the Hideout, it needs to be upgraded, and you should prioritize specific types of improvements and rooms for maximum benefit.
In this article, we will discuss the best upgrades for the Hideout and its rooms in Assassin's Creed Shadows that you should prioritize.
Forge
This is probably the most important building in your Hideout in Assassin's Creed Shadows, which you should unlock and upgrade as quickly as possible. With it, you gain the ability to gather crafting materials (different for Yasuke and Naoye as they use different types of equipment).

In the Forge, you can upgrade weapons and armor to levels 20/40/60 and dismantle unnecessary equipment for resources. As the building level increases, the ability to use engravings becomes available.
At the second level, non-heroic engravings become available, and the maximum equipment level increases to 40. The third level unlocks heroic engravings and raises the limit to level 60. To build the Forge, you first need to find and recruit a blacksmith.
Level | Crops | Wood | Minerals | Improvements |
1 | 40 | 30 | 10 | Weapons and armor can be upgraded to level 20 and dismantled |
2 | 350 | 260 | 90 | Weapons and armor can be upgraded to level 40, non-heroic engravings available |
3 | 700 | 520 | 170 | Weapons and armor can be upgraded to level 60, heroic engravings available |
Study
The Study will become the central element for managing your network of Scouts. Scouts gather resources for you, mark quest points, and remove regional alarms.

Building a first-level Study provides one additional Scout and reduces the target search area by 25%. Each upgrade adds another Scout, and the final level reduces the search area by 60%.
The more Scouts you have, the more tasks you can complete per season. Given how much in the game depends on the seasons, quickly and early upgrading this building will be extremely beneficial for you.
Level | Crops | Wood | Minerals | Improvements |
1 | 60 | 40 | 10 | Additional Scout, reduces task search area by 25% |
2 | 350 | 260 | 90 | Additional Scout |
3 | 810 | 610 | 200 | Additional Scout, reduces task search area by 60% |

Stable
The Stable will be unlocked as soon as you gain access to the Hideout. However, improvements need to be made manually, and it is advisable to prioritize it. This room allows you to gather resources from warehouses with just one Scout instead of two, effectively doubling the collection efficiency.

The third level increases the amount of resources Scouts bring by 20%. Since all buildings require crops, wood, and minerals, upgrading the Stable accelerates the development of the entire base. The priority of this building is obvious — with it, you'll never run out of basic materials.
Level | Crops | Wood | Minerals | Improvements |
1 | - | - | - | Available from the start. Warehouses can be marked, requiring 2 Scouts for collection |
2 | 350 | 260 | 90 | Requires half the Scouts for resource collection from warehouses |
3 | 810 | 610 | 200 | You receive 20% more resources from warehouses |
Kakurega
Kakurega is your information base. Its construction is available from the start, and by the second level, it begins to offer significant advantages. You will receive various rumors about valuable objects: collectibles, treasures, knowledge points, etc.
To build the Kakurega, you will need:
- 60 Crops
- 30 Wood
- 5 Stone

Additionally, your Scouts will be able to remove regional alarms. At the third level, more Kakurega points appear across Japan, and the cost of unlocking them is reduced by 30%. They are excellent for quick travel and resource replenishment without being tied to the seasons, making it not only one of the best but also necessary buildings for upgrading in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Level | Crops | Wood | Minerals | Improvements |
1 | - | - | - | Gain one Scout. Kakurega unlocks fast travel, seasonal contracts, and resource replenishment |
2 | 580 | 440 | 150 | You receive seasonal rumors about legendary chests and valuable collectibles |
3 | 930 | 700 | 230 | Unlocks more Kakurega locations and reduces their cost by 30% |
Best Themed Rooms in Assassin's Creed Shadows
Unlike the previous rooms we discussed, themed rooms cannot be upgraded, only built. They provide a passive effect and are necessary for the player but not as prioritized as the main building rooms. We will go through themed rooms in order of construction feasibility that will be useful for you.

Dojo
A necessary structure for those who frequently use allies in battles. Initially, the Dojo allows training allies to the Initiate level. Upgrading to the second level enables you to take two allies with you, and the third level unlocks access to the Veteran rank.

If you combine strong allies with a well-developed main character, battles even in the most dangerous places will become significantly easier. However, due to the narrow focus of this structure, it is better to upgrade it after more stable development of the main structures we discussed above.
Required resources for building the Dojo room:
Level | Crops | Wood | Minerals | Improvements |
1 | 350 | 260 | 90 | Allies can be trained to Initiate rank |
2 | 470 | 350 | 120 | Two allies can be recruited for assistance |
3 | 700 | 520 | 170 | Allies can be trained to Veteran rank |
Nando
This themed room unlocks after you recruit several Scouts. Its advantage is reducing the cost of replenishing Scouts by 30%. Since the number of Scouts is limited by the season, this saving will allow continuous use of them without excessive costs. By building Nando, you will ensure stable reconnaissance work throughout the entire game cycle.
Required resources for building the Nando room:
Crops | Wood | Minerals | Coins (Mon) |
440 | 330 | 110 | 1160 |

Zashiki & Tea Room
Both of these rooms provide the same bonus — improving the effectiveness of rations by 20%. If you build both, you will receive a total of +40% to healing from food. This is especially useful for Naoye, who has less health and vitality than Yasuke.

Required resources for building the rooms:
Room | Crops | Wood | Minerals | Coins (Mon) | Task |
Zashiki | 740 | 550 | 180 | 1930 | Help Settsu |
Tea Room | 90 | 370 | 280 | 960 | Help Yamashiro |
If you often use stealth and quick attacks, this bonus will help you survive tough encounters. You can unlock these rooms through side missions. For this, you can check out our guide on how to unlock the Tea Room in Assassin's Creed Shadows.

Tera
Tera is the perfect room choice as it increases overall experience gain by 10% (applies to all activities — combat, stealth kills, quest completion, etc.). This will allow you to unlock new skills and access more powerful equipment faster. Especially useful if you want to efficiently level up both characters and explore dangerous regions more quickly. Therefore, this room can be considered one of the best, though not a priority for the Hideout in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
Required resources for building the Tera room:
Crops | Wood | Minerals | Coins (Mon) |
740 | 550 | 180 | 1930 |

Jinja
The bonuses from Jinja are situational but very powerful when used correctly. Praying at this shrine increases the effect of other prayer bonuses by 20% for 15 minutes. These effects can be both combat and stealth-related. Due to the limited duration, it is worth using before important missions. Don't rush to build it — wait until other main structures are already built.
Required resources for building the Jinja room:
Crops | Wood | Minerals | Coins (Mon) | Condition |
690 | 510 | 170 | 1800 | Pay homage at the Great Shrine |

Gallery
The Gallery does not provide gameplay advantages but significantly improves equipment management. You can create equipment sets and quickly switch between them. Convenient if you frequently change weapons depending on the type of tasks or simply want to keep beautiful armor. This is a room for convenience, not necessity.
Required resources for building the Gallery:
Crops | Wood | Minerals | Coins (Mon) | Condition |
490 | 370 | 120 | 1280 | Obtain the first legendary equipment |

By upgrading the buildings in this order, you will gain the best advantage for your characters. We hope this helps you decide where to prioritize resources for improving the Hideout in Assassin's Creed Shadows.
