The Tea Room is one of several rooms you can expand your Hideout with in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. These rooms allow you to gain passive effects on certain skills of your character: additional resources, extra fast travel, increased number of scouts, additional experience, and more.

How to Unlock the Tea Room in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

When you enter the Hideout, the Tea Room will be locked and you will receive the message: "offer support to a Yamashiro tea master". To unlock the room, you need to complete a quest.

As you progress through the main storyline, shortly after the quest “The Tea Ceremony” and the assassination of Golden Teppo, you will gain access to the “Tea Bowls for Rikyu” task on the Yamashiro people’s task board, but you won’t be able to complete it immediately. You will first need to progress further in the story until you find Yamashiro in the Kyoto location.

The tea master you are looking for is Sen no Rikyu, and you will find him in northern Kyoto, a few blocks north of the Nijo Palace. After speaking with him, he will ask you to find tea bowls scattered around the world.

They are not hidden in random places — they are sold by decorative item merchants and are clearly marked as quest items, making them relatively easy to find if you know where to look.

To unlock the Tea Room, you only need to bring Sen no Rikyu one set of bowls (there are seven in total in the game). Once the Tea Room is unlocked, you can build it in your Hideout.
