Deltarune Chapter 2 is packed with secrets, optional paths, and hidden content and among its most mysterious is the KeyGen, a special item that unlocks access to a powerful secret boss. If you're trying to figure out how to find the KeyGen and face off against the infamous Spamton NEO, you're in the right place. Here's your complete walkthrough to acquiring and using the KeyGen in Deltarune Chapter 2.
The KeyGen (short for Key Generator) is a unique key item found in Chapter 2. It’s essential for unlocking the basement in Queen’s Mansion, which leads to a secret boss fight and an entire hidden subplot involving Spamton.
Progress through Chapter 2 until you arrive at Queen’s Mansion, located near the Color Café in Cyber City.
Right outside the Color Café, you’ll notice a red door. Interact with it—it acts as a fast-travel portal. Choose the Trash Zone destination.
Once in the Trash Zone, move left past the area where you first met Spamton. Keep going until you find a hole in the fence on the left side of the street. Enter it to find Spamton’s secret shop.
Inside Spamton’s shop, scroll to BUY MORE!!!. You’ll see a rotating list of items. The KeyGen appears at the top of the list, but here’s the trick: the price changes constantly.
Once bought, the KeyGen will appear in your Key Items.
Progress through Queen’s Mansion until you help the Tasque Manager handle her Tasques. Afterward, move past the main staircase into the room with speeding cars.
Hit every red STOP button to summon a horde of mice that clears the path. Head into the hallway on the right afterward.
Inside the new room, look for a large teacup structure and interact with the tall pillar on the right. You’ll hear a sound that indicates a hidden switch has been activated. This unlocks the secret door to the mansion basement.
Use the KeyGen on the green-glowing lock to enter. Inside, you’ll navigate a series of corridors until you find a strange old robot.
Interact with the robot to receive the Empty Disk.
Fast-travel back to the Trash Zone and visit Spamton again. Choose the ‘TALKING’ option, then select GIVE DISK. Once you give him the disk, Spamton’s shop permanently closes. Be sure to buy anything else you want before handing it over.
Now that you’ve transferred the data, head back to the basement. Use the Loaded Disk on the robot.
The machine awakens, the music kicks in, and the screen explodes into chaos. You’re now facing Spamton NEO, one of Deltarune Chapter 2’s most challenging and iconic boss fights. Expect unique mechanics, intense bullet hell sequences, and some of the best music in the game.
The KeyGen quest, arguably one of the most overlooked aspects of Deltarune Chapter 2, offers a captivating as well as challenging boss fight alongside additional contributions to the narrative. It demonstrates once more the creativity and flair Toby Fox is known for. It is well worth getting if you plan on completing the chapter or if you simply want to see everything this game offers.
