All Currencies Explained in Umamusume: Pretty Derby

Umamusume: Pretty Derby follows familiar gacha game mechanics, complete with rotating banners and a wide cast of collectible characters—in this case, horse girls known as Umas. While the core system might feel familiar to fans of the genre, the game introduces several unique currencies that can be overwhelming for new players.

If you're just starting, here's a clear breakdown of each currency used in the Umamusume gacha system and how to use them effectively.

Carats

Used as the main currency to perform pulls on banners.

Carats

Carats are the main currency used to acquire new characters (Umas) and Support Cards in Umamusume: Pretty Derby. You can earn Carats by completing missions, participating in in-game events, or purchasing them directly with real money.

If you’re an exclusively free-to-play player, fret not, Carats are generously given throughout gameplay, and you will often find yourself with stocks of Carats, enough to perform various pulls.

A single pull costs 50 Carats. Meanwhile, a 10-pull costs 1,500 Carats, which we recommend greatly as it guarantees at least one SR Support Card or a 2-Star character.

In addition to rolling for characters, Carats can also be used to restore TPs and RPs–your daily stamina that’ll be consumed to participate in races or game modes like Career and Team Trial. 10 Carats will refill either 30 TP or 1 RP.

There are two types of Carats: free and paid. The game always deducts free Carats first if both types are available. While most banners accommodate both, paid Carats are occasionally a requirement—especially for special banners like the 3-Star Guaranteed. Players can also access daily banners using 50 paid Carats, although this offer is limited to one pull per day.

Bear in mind that players under 20 have a Carats purchase limit. There is also a limit to daily spending on each banner. If you’re playing Umamusume on both Steam and mobile, linking your account will not transfer all Carats owned to the secondary device, meaning you’ll need to make transactions on your original device.

Exchange Points

Used to perform a guaranteed pull once it reaches 200 points.

Exchange Points

Exchange Points are a central currency of Umamusume: Pretty Derby’s gacha pity system. Every time you perform a pull on a banner, you earn 1 Exchange Point—specific to that banner only. Once you accumulate 200 Exchange Points, you can exchange them for the featured character or Support Card on that banner.

Most limited-time banners only last about a week, giving you a narrow window to take advantage of this system. To reach the 200-point threshold in time, you’ll need a sizable stock of Carats ready before the banner expires.

After the banner ends, any unused points will automatically be converted into Clovers, another in-game currency. (We explain Clovers in more detail below.)

Monies

Used for most purchases, including Trainees and Support Cards upgrades.

Monies
Monies

Monies are the basic in-game currency in Umamusume: Pretty Derby, used for a wide range of upgrades and purchases. You’ll spend Monies to raise your Trainee’s potential, level up Support Cards, and borrow Veteran Umamusume from friends. This currency is primarily earned by winning Career races and completing missions and other races. Players can hold up to a maximum of 999,999,999 Monies.

Monies are also used to purchase various items during Daily Sales, a random in-game event that appears during non-Career races. This event can occur up to three times per day and lasts for 10 minutes each time.

Support Points (SP)

Used for leveling up Support Cards.

Support Points, along with Monies, are used to level up Support Cards. They can be earned through Career wins, Daily Races, and in-game events. Additionally, you can convert Veteran Umamusume into Support Points by selecting the "Transfer" option in their respective menu.

Friend Points

Can be exchanged for a set of characters and unlock more follow slots.

Friend Points are primarily earned through Team Races, and you can also gain them when your friends use your featured Support Card. You can set this featured Support Card in your profile.

In the Friend Point Exchange, you can spend Friend Points on exclusive items. For example, 10,000 Friend Points can be exchanged for a copy of the SSR Haru Urara Support Card, and 2,000 points can get you 5 Rice Shower (Rosy Dreams) Star Pieces.

Additionally, for 1,000 Friend Points, you can unlock an extra Follow Slot, allowing you to borrow more Veteran Umamusume and Support Cards. Friend Points can also be exchanged for Support Points and materials used to level up your trainee's Potential.

Club Points

Can be exchanged for a range of distinct rewards like Star Pieces and Monies.

Club Points are earned through various Club-related activities. You can receive them as rewards based on your Club’s rank at the end of each ranking period. When your Club-mates borrow your Legacy Umamusume during training, you’ll earn Club Points as a bonus.

Another way to earn Club Points is by interacting in the Club chat. You can request specific types of Shoes, and when Club-mates donate them, both the requester and the donor receive Club Points. This system encourages cooperation and active participation within the Club.

Club Points can be used to purchase Star Pieces for 2-Star characters like Mayano Top Gun and Agnes Tachyon, as well as two SSR Support Cards: Mejiro McQueen (Your Team Ace) and Rice Shower (Showered in Joy).

The primary rewards obtainable via Club Points include the Winner's Sash–used to enhance your trainee's Potential, and Monies.

Cleats

Can be exchanged for a select range of rewards, including Scout Tickets and Dream Glimmer.

Cleats are a special currency obtained by converting duplicate Support Cards. The type of Cleat you receive depends on the card’s rarity:

  1. SSR card: Rainbow Cleats
  2. SR card: Gold Cleats
  3. R card: Silver Cleats

These Cleats can be spent in the Cleat Exchange, where you’ll find valuable items such as Scout Tickets for banner pulls and Dream Glimmer, which is used to fully maximize your trainee's Potential.

Clovers

Can be exchanged for Scout Tickets, Monies, Alarm Clocks, and more.

Clovers are a special currency obtained from two sources: expired Exchange Points from limited-time banners and surplus Star Pieces stored in the Star Piece Storage.

In the Clover Exchange, you can trade Clovers for a variety of useful items. In addition to the standard Winner's Sash, available rewards include Scout Tickets, Monies, Alarm Clocks, and more items to boost your race performances.

Goddess Statues

Can be exchanged to gain Star Pieces.

Goddess Statues

Goddess Statues are obtained by scouting duplicate characters, through event rewards, and occasionally as a rare drop after completing a Career.

You can exchange one Statue for a Star Piece, making it a great way to increase the Star level of your favorite characters. However, keep in mind that each time you purchase a Star Piece for a specific character, the cost will increase by one additional Statue.

Vouchers

Can be exchanged for Trainees or Support Cards

Vouchers allow you to choose a specific character or Support Card from a designated list. These Vouchers are only obtainable through special Missions or limited-time events. Voucher-exclusive banners will only appear in the Scout menu when you possess the corresponding Vouchers.
