When Toby Fox teased fans about adding Pluey to future chapters of Deltarune, speculation ran wild. Was Pluey a new character? A sidequest? A boss? With the release of Chapters 3 and 4, we finally have an answer: Pluey is a secret minigame and finding it is half the fun.
To access the Pluey minigame, you’ll need to complete Chapter 4 of Deltarune. Once that’s done, return to Castle Town and follow these instructions:
In Deltarune, Pluey can be unlocked by first finding Mike’s room. After Chapter 4, go to Castle Town and enter the TV building next to Top Bakery. Walk down the hallway until you reach the door labeled MIKE. Type in 6453 when prompted and you will be let in.
Upon entry, proceed straight down the corridor until you reach a cat-shaped statue with a pink hand perched atop its head. Choose to “Pet It”, and this will open up a new corridor to explore. Advance to the end of this new hallway where you will encounter the next cat statue which is holding a pink Maus.
Interact with the second statue to free the trapped Maus. In return, the Maus transforms into a large, controllable hand. This hand can be used to interact with various statues throughout the rooms. Head back to the original hallway and use the Maus hand to remove the large cat statue that was previously blocking your path. After clearing the way, you’ll find a save point and another set of doors labeled MIKE. Go through them to initiate a secret boss fight.
Before you can play Pluey, you’ll have to take down Motormouth Mike, a flashy secret boss with a few unique mechanics:
The battle has multiple phases, so be ready for surprises. Beat Motormouth Mike, and you’ll unlock access to a series of post-battle minigames, including Pluey.
After defeating Motormouth Mike, you’ll unlock access to a series of minigames in Mike’s room. Return there, and you’ll see a cat character on the right side. Pick it up and place it into the slot on the floor. This action will start the Pluey minigame.
In Pluey, the goal is straightforward: collect cats from one side of the screen and deposit them into a basket on the right while avoiding falling raindrops. You have three lives to spare which get depleted every time you're hit by a raindrop. Over time, additional cats will start to rain down as well, further complicating things and requiring you to multitask between catching cats and dodging obstacles. It’s a fast-paced, enjoyable minigame that uncovers some of Deltarune’s more charming secrets and offers perks for diving deep into it.
Although Pluey is not integral to the plot, it serves as a wonderful surprise that enhances Deltarune's growing universe. If you consider yourself a completionist or even just intrigued by some of Toby Fox’s eccentricities, unlocking Pluey is certainly worthwhile.
