If you want to improve your skills in Fortnite, complete tasks, or simply play at a more relaxed pace, playing in a bot lobby can be a great choice. This way, you won't have to stress during the game—you can play completely calmly. In this article, you'll learn how to get into a bot lobby in Fortnite.
A bot lobby consists of matches where most players are replaced by artificial intelligence. They are designed for beginners and are also used to fill empty servers.
Such matches allow you to safely learn the game's mechanics, test strategies, and complete Battle Pass tasks. Since bots are significantly weaker than real players, it's easier to reach your desired point, defeat a boss, or meet other conditions to gain experience and rewards.
Fortnite doesn't have a direct feature to launch bot matches like some other games. However, there are workarounds that we'll discuss further.
The simplest and one of the best methods to play againsy bots in Fortnite is to create a new account. The system automatically matches beginners with bot matches to help them get accustomed.
What to do:
Fortnite's matchmaking system usually places new accounts in bot-filled lobbies to allow players to familiarize themselves with the game's mechanics. This approach has limitations: the more you win or survive, the higher your skill level becomes, and over time, you'll be matched with more real players.
To stay in bot lobbies, some players create smurf accounts—additional profiles used solely for playing with beginners. But keep in mind: using multiple accounts may violate Fortnite's rules, so use this method cautiously.
Tip: if you have a second device, invite the smurf account to your main lobby. This way, you'll play with bots on your main account.
If you don't want to create a new account, use the Duos, Trios, or Squads mode with the Fill option. If playing solo, the system might add bots as allies. This method is more effective during off-peak hours when there are fewer real players online.
Fortnite considers not only the account's skill but also the platform. When playing on a new device, the system may temporarily place you in an easier lobby to give you time to adapt.
So switching, for example, from a console to a mobile device can reduce match difficulty and increase the number of bots.
What to do:
Competitive and ranked modes usually attract experienced players. In contrast, regular or temporary modes (like Team Rumble) often feature bots, especially when there is a shortage of real participants. Playing these modes increases your chances of getting into a bot lobby.
Although Creative Mode doesn't offer classic bot lobbies, it allows you to create your own map with enemy AI—spawners, guards, or creatures. This is excellent for practicing shooting, building, and overall skill improvement without pressure from real players.
There's also the Playground mode—where you can freely practice against bots in a safe environment without affecting your ranking or matchmaking.
Tips:
The "reverse boosting" tactic involves intentionally losing several matches in a row—for example, landing and immediately getting eliminated without fighting. This lowers your game statistics, and the matchmaking system starts placing you in easier lobbies.
In such matches, there are often more bots. The method is not guaranteed and temporary, but it can help if you frequently lose or want to slightly reduce the difficulty.
Over time, the matchmaking system lowers the difficulty of your matches. In such "easy" lobbies, more bots often appear, especially if your statistics (like the number of kills) have noticeably worsened.
This method is less stable than creating a new account, but it can temporarily make the game easier, especially if you've been losing frequently lately.
Fortnite often matches games based on the weakest player in the group. Therefore, if you team up with a beginner or a player with low statistics, there's a chance to get into a lobby with bots or less experienced opponents.
Tip: play with friends who have just started playing or have weaker statistics—this will increase the chances of easier matches.
Another way to get into a bot lobby is to change the matchmaking region in the game settings or use a VPN. In regions with fewer active players (like the Middle East, South America, Oceania), the game sometimes adds bots to fill the match faster.
What to do:
During off-peak times—late at night or early in the morning—there are fewer players online in Fortnite, so the system often adds bots to fill the lobby.
To further reduce the number of real players, disable cross-platform play in the settings (Account and Privacy). This increases the chance of getting into a match where most opponents are bots. Off-peak activity times depend on your region, so it's worth experimenting.
Constantly playing with bots won't be possible—after about level 5, the system starts adding real players. To avoid this, some players leave the match immediately after it starts—this way, the account doesn't gain experience and remains at a low level.
Such matches don't yield Crown Wins, but you still earn XP and progress in the battle pass. This is convenient for completing tasks or playing without stress.
Epic Games doesn't officially prohibit playing on a second account to get into bot lobbies—since it doesn't give an advantage in competitive modes, this approach is essentially allowed.
However, abuse, such as artificially boosting statistics or misleading others, may attract interest from Epic. If you're using bot lobbies for practice or task completion, there won't be any issues.
There have been rumors for some time that Fortnite developers might add a mode where players can compete in 50v50 matches, with 50 players being real people and the other half bots. Whether there will be separate custom servers where you can play alone against 99 bots is unknown.
