Today we return to VCT 2025: Pacific Kickoff, namely to the lower grid. In the semi-final, Talon Esports will face off against Gen.G for a chance to stay in the tournament. The elimination match is always interesting, so below we will try to guess its outcome.
Current form of the teams
Talon Esports
A very uncertain team, which is more of a mid-table team. Before the start of the current tournament the team took part only in SOOP VALORANT League 2024, which failed and took 7-8th place. Over the last 5 matches the team earned 2 wins over: Nongshim RedForce and Global Esports, and 3 losses to T1, Made in Thailand and future opponents from Gen.G. Talon Esports is a mid-level team.
Talon Esports is a mid-tier team on the Pacific scene. They didn't earn any significant achievements last year, but they didn't usually lose at the bottom of the rankings either. But in this match, their opponent is more than a strong level, and therefore they are unlikely to be defeated.
Gen. G Esports
In turn, their opponents in the past were one of the favorites last season. Before the start of the current tournament, they took part in the SOOP VALORANT League 2024, where they finished in second place. In the last five meetings the team has 3 wins over DRX, RRQ, Detonation FocusMe. In turn, two losses came to NRG and DRX.
In this match Gen. G Esports is the clear favorite. Despite the fact that last year they showed the best results, now the team although dropped to the bottom of the grid, but confidently beating opponents on the way to the finals.
Team Mapple
Expected bans:
- Talon Esports will likely ban Haven.
- Gen.G will likely take out Split.
Expected picks:
- T1 will probably pick Pearl.
- Gen.G may take Bind.
Head-to-head meetings between the teams
The teams have met three times in the last six months. At the SOOP League and twice at the TEN Asia Invitational. All three meetings were won by Gen.G with scores of 1:0, 2:0 and 2:1. This directly indicates that in head-to-head meetings Gen.G confidently dominate.
Match Prediction
Despite the fact that Talon is still in the lower net, and has already earned one win, in this match the favorite is clearly Gen.G. The team dominates in head-to-head meetings and according to past results, so most likely the match will end with a dry victory for them.
Match outcome: Gen.G wins 2-0.
