The global tournament VALORANT Champions 2024 continues in Korea, where Team Heretics secured a victory against FunPlus Phoenix in their first group stage match. In the post-game press conference, players Boo and Wo0t explained why they decided to switch roles.
Typically, Boo takes on the role of a controller, while Wo0t plays as an initiator. However, in the third match against FunPlus Phoenix on the map Lotus, Boo played as Fade and Wo0t as Omen. This unusual choice of agents led to interesting results. The game ended in overtime with a score of 15-13 in favor of Team Heretics, who won the match 2-1.
According to Boo, who previously played as an initiator, this switch made the game more comfortable for the entire team.
The main reason is that I was wondering why we hadn’t swapped roles earlier. Last year, when AvovA was on the team, I played as Fade, and it was really interesting. We decided to try it with the current roster.he explained
Wo0t, who successfully performed the role of Omen after the role switch, also shared his thoughts:
Boo suggested switching roles, and I agreed. We tried it in practice, and the result was successful. I think it made our game more interesting and challenging for our opponents.he explained
Now, Team Heretics is preparing for their next match against the Korean team Gen.G, where their progression to the playoffs will be determined. In the final of the previous VCT 2024 Masters Shanghai tournament, the team lost to Gen.G and is now hoping for a rematch. Stay tuned for the match on August 6.
