The next update in Valorant is already being tested on the test server. Among all the other changes, the most important is the new sound accompaniment that now activates when the smokes of Omen, Brimstone, and Astra end. We have compiled a selection of opinions from esports athletes on this topic for you to better understand whether the update acts as a buff to smokers or vice versa.
gotta realize not all changes are in favor of pro play in VALORANT, this is probably to help make the game more accessible for newer players https://t.co/D3Iy6zaKSJ

The first opinion, although not from a professional player, but Danish esports journalist and insider Bo Hoogland also understands many aspects of the game. He states that the sound accompaniment will affect new players in Valorant, who will now find it easier to act in different situations without having to memorize smoke timings. Whereas for professional players, the change will be almost imperceptible.
It was a 'skill' to make sure yk when ur smoke fades or know exact small audio q to give u that small % over enemy in certain scenario's. But now massive triangles and a loud ass WOOOOSHH will let you know 0.o, playing smokes seems less enjoyable by the day 😒 https://t.co/Pc0AzhOFaY

Calvin "MAGiK" Spaaij from Joblife Esports stated that he perceives the change quite negatively. If before it was a honed skill to act in smokes and learn their timing, now players don't need to strain too much, he stated that "playing in smokes now seems less enjoyable."
It's gonna change a lot actually for pro players, especially for players who just launched the game. https://t.co/ougHviVZk7

In turn, Dmitry "SUYGETSU" Ilyushin from Natus Vincere stated that the sound accompaniment will affect not only newcomers but also professionals. But unfortunately, he did not explain exactly how.
Y Riot en sus trece. Haciendo cambios que nadie ha pedido. Pues un poquito menos de skill gap para el juego 😂 https://t.co/tODkL4QMij

Lucas "HITBOX" González-Sabariegos, a streamer of the Spanish club Giants Gaming, stated that Riot Games did again what nobody asked them for. Now there will be even less emphasis on individual skill in the game, and the gameplay will become much simpler.
Not really a big fan of this change. It gave controller players a huge advantage to know exactly when smokes fade. Overall will change a lot of fights imo. https://t.co/RJkuoLlGxn
— BcJ (@BcJFPS) October 13, 2023
Former Evil Geniuses participant - BcJ also stated that he does not like the new change. Now players in the controller position have a huge advantage because they will know exactly when the enemy smoke will disappear.
