The qualifying tournaments in each region for the first Masters this year have recently concluded, and the last of these was the VCT 2024: Americas Kickoff. Tonight, the grand final of the tournament took place, resulting in the well-known team Sentinels winning the championship title after a tough fight.
Sentinels' victory marks the organization's return to the professional Valorant scene after two years of hiatus. It's worth remembering that the team dominated the tournaments in 2021 but then lost ground, with the seasons in 2022 and 2023 ending without significant results. Now, the team is again ready to compete in the biggest tournaments, which the Sentinels players proved tonight with a hard-fought victory over Brazil's top team, LOUD.
The clash in the grand final fully lived up to the title of the tournament's most anticipated duel, with neither team planning to lose, resulting in the match stretching over 5 maps. Initially, the reigning champions confidently took the first two maps, but then the Brazilians turned the situation around and won the next two. In the end, after an even score, the fate of the match was decided on the last map, Lotus, where Sentinels demolished their opponents with a resounding score of 13-4, thus securing the championship title.
It should be noted that despite the results, both teams received invitations to the upcoming Masters Madrid, which will take place from March 14 to 24. It will feature 8 partner teams, 2 from each region, competing for the championship title, as well as the overall prize pool, the size of which is yet unknown.
