"They killed Skye" - Professional Valorant players express their opinion on update 8.01

Last night, Valorant released patch 8.01, in which Riot Games carried out a major rebalancing of agents. Among all the changes, the developers significantly cut back on the meta agent Skye, which professional players reacted to quite negatively.

As a reminder, patch 8.01 fixed a number of bugs and made changes to the abilities of agents Iso, Skye, Raze. Read more about the update in our article. It was the weakening of Skye that led professional players and other media personalities to react negatively to the patch. The first to express his opinion was commentator Doug ‘EsportsDoug’ Cortez, who simply stated - "They killed her, they killed my girl".

Former beastcoast coach Roy "StrongLegs" Ahad also expressed his opinion. He stated that such changes are quite logical, since Skye has been in the meta for the last two years, and therefore balance was needed by everyone.

In turn, Ukrainian coach Ivan "Johnta" Shevtsov, who is currently coaching the Japanese club FENNEL, reacted positively to the weakening of Skye. He reported that in playing Valorant, as in any other competitive discipline, one should not forget about adaptation. Because changes are an inevitable part of Valorant, and those who do not adhere to them, lose.

VALORANT is about adaptation. Adapting to the game, adapting to agents, adapting to changes. Until you accept this, it will be worse for you. Whoever adapts better and faster wins.

So far, there has been no reaction from other professional players and media personalities, but most likely they will be more negative. We continue to follow the official social networks to learn all the opinions regarding the new update.
