The selection events for the tier-2 Challengers league are in full swing, and today we will tell you what is happening in the Japanese region. One of the favorites turned out to be the FENNEL club, which yesterday successfully secured the first slot in the grand final of the qualifiers.
Remember that Valorant Challengers 2024 Japan: Split 1 - Open Qualifier is a qualifying stage lasting three days, from January 22 to January 24, 2024. Sixty-four teams from the Japanese region participate, divided into 8 groups, from A to H. The winner of each group receives a slot in the first split of Valorant Challengers 2024 Japan, where they will compete for a chance to participate in the tournament. One of the main favorites is the above-described team FENNEL, which easily defeated all opponents and advanced to the grand final.
Such team performance is quite expected considering their success last season. In 2023, FENNEL came close to making it to the main tier-2 tournament, Ascension, but finished third in Valorant Challengers 2023: Japan second split. It is clear that the club's management is not planning to give up and wants to repeat or even surpass last year's success. Currently, FENNEL has secured two easy victories over RABILIS BURST with a score of 2-0, and over BC SWELL also 2-0. Today, the team will face the winner of the lower bracket for the right to receive an invitation to the main stage.
The main tournament, Valorant Challengers 2024 Japan: Split 1, will start on February 3 and last until March 31, 2024. The eight strongest teams will compete for a total prize pool of $33,000 and a place in the second stage of the tournament.
