Just recently, the organizers of the Americas Kickoff revealed details and groups of the upcoming tournament, and the Valorant community has already expressed its dissatisfaction. The complaints concern the Evil Geniuses team and their position in Group C.
It is worth noting that each of the Kickoff tournaments will feature 11 partner teams. Due to the odd total number of teams, they are distributed as follows: 4 participants in groups A and B, and only 3 in group C. Therefore, one of the teams, which showed the best results in its region for the year 2023, immediately receives a place in the winners' match of group C. The selection of the team that received the advantage in the American region has caused dissatisfaction among players.
The issue is that the slot in the winners' match was given to Evil Geniuses, who won the world championship in 2023. While the merits of this club cannot be denied, the community believes that the organization does not deserve the privilege due to numerous conflicts for which it was the reason. Also, ordinary players remind that the championship roster that lifted the world champions trophy has already been disbanded, and 4 out of 5 players have moved to other teams. Therefore, the current players have no relation to the championship and thus do not deserve the advantage.
Riot Games has not yet responded to the community's complaint and most likely will not. The groups for the upcoming Americas Kickoff have already been announced, and the teams distributed, so it is unlikely that the organizers will change the team placements two weeks before the start of the tournament.
