The official VCT 2024 competitive season will start soon, and more and more details are emerging online. Recently, the organizers of the Americas Kickoff revealed details of the upcoming tournament, becoming the third competitive region to share all the information.
Before the first major tournament of this year, Masters Madrid, there will be qualifying Kickoff selections in each of the competitive regions. In the Americas region, where teams from America and Brazil will compete, 11 partner teams will participate. They will compete for two invitations to the upcoming Masters and 3 Americas Points, which are necessary to qualify for the world championship. The Americas Kickoff will be divided into three stages: a group stage in a double-elimination format, a play-in in a Round Robin format, and a final playoff stage in a Single-Elimination format.
As in other regions, a total of 11 teams will participate, divided into 3 groups. In Group C, there will only be three teams, due to the overall odd number of teams. Interestingly, this year's world champions, Evil Geniuses, will directly advance to the winners' match, thus skipping the first stage of the group phase. This decision caused an outcry in the community, due to the issues created by the organization. We will tell more about this later.
