The female team G2 Gozen failed to compete against male teams at Red Bull Home Ground #4 - EMEA Qualifier

The first stage of the European qualifiers for Red Bull Home Ground #4 concluded yesterday. Among all the participants was a single female team, G2 Gozen, who ultimately could not compete with the three other clubs, finishing the qualifying tournament in last place.

It should be noted that the Red Bull Home Ground #4 - EMEA Qualifier is the final stage of qualification before the main tournament, which will take place from November 3 to 5 in Tokyo. The interest in the European qualifiers lies in the fact that, for the first time, the organizers invited a female team to the event, namely G2 Gozen. Despite fans' expectations, as this was the first event where a professional female team could test their strength against the top of the professional scene, the result was quite disappointing. The girls lost both of their matches against FUT Esports 5-13 and Team Heretics 0-13, leaving the qualifiers in last place.

We want to point out that this is a quite bold step for the organizers. For the first time, they are trying to overcome the "barrier" that prevents female and male teams from competing on the professional stage. Although G2 Gozen did not achieve the best result, perhaps in the future, we will see more joint tournaments where the best teams from both sides will compete.
