Last night, the Valorant community was shaken by unexpected news. The American esports organization Evil Geniuses announced the disbandment of its women's roster, Evil Geniuses GC.
Fans of the team and the entire Valorant community believe this event signifies the beginning of the end for the era of Evil Geniuses. Recall that in the past few months, the organization faced a barrage of criticism. It all started after the team's victory at the Valorant World Championship, following which information surfaced online about the organization keeping its players in a "contractual prison." Subsequently, several scandals emerged related to the Rocket League roster and their own clothing line. As a result, the leaders of Evil Geniuses announced their plans to completely leave the esports space, after which it was revealed that the "Geniuses" are disbanding their LoL and Dota 2 teams. Today, the fate of the women's Valorant team became known.
We say goodbye to our women's team and celebrate our time together. Thank you for an incredible season, and we eagerly await your future achievements.
Evil Geniuses GC had a very intense season. During which the girls won victories at the Complexity Paradox Invitational and VCT 2023: Game Changers North America Series S3. Despite this, the team failed at the women's world championship, where they were eliminated early in 7-8th place. This result was not the final straw in the team's life, as it was obvious that the organization had been planning the disbandment for some time.
Former members of Evil Geniuses GC reacted differently to their departure from the club. All of them thanked the team and the organization but did not reveal their future plans. Only Lorrian "Lorri" Elad stated that she is likely to end her career in Valorant, as the world championship did not bring the desired results.
