Technical issues and rescheduling: VCT PACIFIC 2024 started with a delay

In the VCT Pacific 2024 tournament, which began on February 17, technical difficulties arose, leading to match rescheduling and disappointment among esports fans. The scheduled match between ZETA DIVISION and Global Esports was postponed to the next day, causing inconvenience for spectators and participants. Jake Sin, the head of VCT Pacific, expressed his thoughts on this matter in his tweet.

We didn't plan for this, but decided to postpone the ZETA vs. GE match to ensure they play at a convenient time and conditions, and to give fans the opportunity to watch without sleepless nights. Both teams were sent back early enough. We will refund the full ticket price for today.

The originally planned match for the first day encountered serious technical issues, leading to a long delay. Not a single map was completed even five hours after the supposed start. In response, Riot Games promised a full ticket refund for February 18.

Due to the significant delay on the first day, the match of the third day was postponed to the following day, and the match of the second day started much later than planned, causing dissatisfaction among tournament spectators and participants.

Jake Sin explained the delay of the match between ZETA and GE:

We wanted to ensure the teams play under suitable conditions at a convenient time. He also noted that we sent each team back early enough.

Match cancellation and ticket refunds became a major issue at the tournament. However, on-site spectators reported being offered pizza and drinks during the break, which, while not ideal, was a nice gesture.
