Stax transferred to DRX reserve, end of an era for Valorant legends?

On May 27th, DRX announced the move of Stax to the reserve roster of their Valorant team. The legendary player, who has been with the Korean club for 4 years, is now benched for the first time.

Stax, who began his career in CS in 2017, was a key player for GOSU and MVP PK, achieving success in international tournaments such as IEM Sydney 2019 and ESL One Cologne 2019.

Then, in 2020, he transitioned to Valorant as part of MVP PK, who later became known as Vision Strikers (and later DRX), dominating the competitive scene from its inception, winning 102 consecutive official matches and claiming First Strike Korea, the first Riot-sponsored tournament.

Stax most notable achievements came in 2022 and 2023, securing 3rd place at VALORANT Champions 2022 and 5th place at VALORANT Champions 2023, earning him a total of 40 thousand in prize money.

However, following recent disappointments at VCT Pacific 2024 Kick-off and Stage 1, where the team finished 4th, DRX decided to make changes to the roster. Stax departure became a key moment in this process. The team is now looking towards younger players.

DRX is eagerly awaiting the start of the second stage of VCT Pacific 2024, where they plan to showcase their updated roster and compete for a spot in the 2024 World Championship.
