Start of Daejeon Valorant Invitational 2023 - event date, invited participants

The off-season brings a plethora of interesting tournaments to Valorant fans, rivaling the spectacle of the competitive season by Riot Games. Another event featuring exclusively Korean teams starts tomorrow, and we'll tell you all about it.

The Daejeon Valorant Invitational 2023 is a LAN tournament that will begin on November 19, 2023, and will last only one day. The event will take place in the city of Daejeon at the Daejeon e-Sports Arena, with a prize pool of $15,300. Interestingly, the tournament is organized by the city administration of Daejeon without external sponsors. This makes the event quite unique, as it is rare to find tournaments conducted by local authorities rather than private organizations.

Three Korean tier-2 teams, which finished the current competitive season with varying results, will participate in the tournament. Dplus finished both stages of VALORANT Challengers 2023: Korea as winners but ultimately did not make it into the partnership program. The other two clubs finished the qualifiers in 5-6th and 8th places, so they did not even receive an invitation to the VCT 2023: Ascension Pacific league.

Interestingly, the top teams of the Korean scene, such as T1, DRX, and Gen.G Esports, are not participating in the tournament. This might be due to the prize pool not being very large for such high-class teams. On the other hand, the above-mentioned teams are participating in other events during the off-season, so they might simply not have time for smaller tournaments.
