Solary leaves Valorant due to economic Challenges in Tier-2 scene

French organization Solary has officially announced its departure from Valorant, deeming the tier-2 scene economically unviable for clubs. The organization first entered the scene in 2023.

Solary in Valorant

Solary signed its first roster in April 2023, receiving a direct invitation to the VALORANT Challengers 2023 France: Revolution Split 2, where they placed 7th. This result was sufficient to retain their slot for the 2024 season. However, the year proved challenging: the team finished 6th and 7th in the two splits, ultimately being relegated. Although they regained their position through the Up & Down tournament, the organization decided to leave the discipline, having earned only $1,630 in prize money during their time in Valorant.

Economic Unsustainability

Following the conclusion of the 2024 season, numerous organizations have exited Valorant due to the economic instability and unprofitability of the tier-2 and tier-3 ecosystems. Many clubs are reallocating their resources to more lucrative projects. In a related article, we discussed the crisis in the tier-2 scene, noting that it is currently in its worst state since the inception of the discipline.

The Future of Valorant

The departure of teams like Solary highlights the urgent need for changes within the tier-2 ecosystem. Riot Games must take action to support clubs and players, preventing further degradation of the competitive scene. Without intervention, interest in the discipline may decline, and young talents could lose opportunities to break into the professional stage.
