"Sexist comments don't help the scene develop" - Mimi from G2 Gozen talks about her experience at Red Bull Home Ground #4 - EMEA Qualifier

The first stage of Red Bull Home Ground #4 - EMEA Qualifier concluded yesterday, featuring, among others, the female team G2 Gozen. After the team suffered two losses and exited the tournament, one of the members of the female club - Michaela "mimi" Lintrup spoke about her impressions and the community's reaction.

Michaela reports that the tournament itself went wonderfully. Despite the unsuccessful results, the emotions and experience the team gained during the confrontation were invaluable. However, what turned out to be negative was the reaction of the Valorant community and the sexist remarks. Many viewers criticized G2 for the defeat and allowed themselves comments that devalue the female contribution to the competitive scene of the discipline.

Here in Istanbul, it was an incredible experience, and we, as a team, are very grateful for the opportunity to compete against VCT teams. Other teams and players treated our team with kindness and respect, and it really matters! I see a lot of conflicting opinions and thoughts on the internet about whether it was worth inviting us, as well as about our performance today. I am convinced that these initiatives will help improve not only our team but also the GC-scene. After all, to get better, you need to play your best, and defeat for us is not discouraging, as we are proud to compete and are committed to being in better shape for the future champions' tournament. Sexist comments don't help the scene develop in the right direction!

It can be assumed that these qualifiers will become a driving force for the joint game scene. Perhaps in the future, we will see more tournaments where female and male teams compete.
