Rumors: FURIA and MIBR interested in creating Valorant academy rosters for 2025

Two Brazilian organizations, FURIA and MIBR, are reportedly interested in forming academy rosters for the Valorant discipline in 2025. Starting next year, new rules will encourage organizations to develop youth rosters.

What’s new in 2025?

From 2025 onward, academy rosters of teams participating in the VCT franchised league will be allowed to compete in the Challengers league, the primary league for tier-2 and lower teams. This will help nurture new talent by providing high-level game practice. Eventually, these players could replace someone on the main roster, or their contracts could be sold to other organizations.

MIBR and FURIA

According to Brazilian journalist Bruno Povoleri, two Brazilian teams — FURIA and MIBR — are interested in forming academy rosters for 2025. They may have been motivated by the new regulations and the triumph of the Brazilian team 2Game Esports, which won Ascension 2024 Americas this year and became part of the VCT.

The Perfect Time for This

Now is the ideal time for organizations to create academy rosters, as the Brazilian scene is unfortunately going through tough times. In 2024, no Brazilian team made it to the world championship, even though in 2023, LOUD secured 3rd place at Valorant Champions. New talents could elevate the scene to a higher level in the future.
