The Valorant professional scene consists of four competitive regions with 12 partner teams each. However, according to rumors, this number will decrease over time, and the VCT scene will undergo a lot of changes in the future.
Rumors about VCT
This information was shared by gamearena portal together with Brazilian journalist Fernando “nandoshow” Schwabe. According to the author, Leo Faria, the former head of Valorant's esports department, came to the stream of well-known content makers Tarik and TenZ. It was there that he shared information that the VCT scene may undergo significant changes in the future.
After the end of the cycle in 2026, 2027 is an opportunity for us to make big changes. This is the time when Ascension teams can become regular participants, have a chance to play on bigger stages. I think we want to be more open. Being more open can mean a lot of things, today we have 10 permanent partners and two Ascension teams, maybe we will change to eight permanent and four rotating, or six permanent and six rotating.
Also, Leo Faria is rumored to have said that the top 2 teams from Ascension will be able to participate in the Masters series tournaments, but it is not yet known how this will be implemented.
Perhaps we will have LCQ, and second-tier Ascension teams that are not part of the franchise will be able to play in Masters. It can be a lot of interesting things.

It should be noted that this information is only at the level of rumors now, and there is no confirmation that the number of partner teams will decrease in the future. By the end of 2026, there will definitely be 10 permanent teams and 2 temporary teams, so there will definitely be no changes before 2026.
