Riot Games has announced extensive measures to support those affected by the devastating wildfires that have ravaged Los Angeles. The company has organized fundraising events through in-game initiatives, provided temporary housing for employees, and donated to nonprofit organizations.
Scale of the Disaster
The wildfires, which began on January 7, have destroyed approximately 164 square kilometers of land—equivalent to a quarter of the area of 23 Tokyo districts. Over 12,300 buildings were damaged, 25 lives were lost, and around 88,000 residents were evacuated.
Riot Games’ Initiatives
Based in Santa Monica, near the affected areas, Riot Games has extended support to both its employees and wildfire victims. Key measures include:
- Offering temporary housing and financial assistance to affected employees.
- Donating to organizations aiding firefighters and medical responders.
- Sending volunteers to assist in impacted areas.
- Supplying generators for buildings without power and delivering over 400 meals to first responders.
In-Game Charity Events
Riot Games has launched initiatives within its games to raise funds:
- In VALORANT, the "EX.O" skin bundle, titled the "Give Back Bundle," will be available from January 22 to 30. All proceeds will be donated to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.
- In League of Legends, the "Firefighter Tristana" skin will return to the store from January 23 to February 5, with all revenue going to the fund.
Starting Jan 22 (Pacific time), we'll be offering the EX.O bundle as a Give Back Bundle.
