On August 9, Riot Games announced a significant change in the organization of the VCT Ascension Pacific 2024 tournament. The event's venue has been moved from Tokyo to Jakarta, Indonesia.
The main reasons for this decision include significant delays in organizing the event and concerns about the quality of the tournament. The new location is expected to provide better conditions for conducting the tournament and meet the expectations of fans and teams.
The new tournament dates are from September 20 to 29, 2024. This change will also affect the tournament format, which will now include 10 teams and use a double elimination bracket. The tournament will last 8 days, with matches played in a bo3 format, and semifinals and finals in a bo5 format.

Riot Games acknowledged that the move will disappoint fans and plans to organize public broadcasts to compensate for the changes. Details will be announced later through official social media.
RAGE, the company responsible for organizing the tournament in Japan, has also released a corresponding statement. Additionally, statements were made by Izumi Kohei, Producer at Riot Games Japan, and Jake Sin, Head of the APAC region.
