Riot Games has announced that starting November 20, 2023, it will make changes to its approach to Riot IDs. After this date, users will be able to change their in-game nickname only once a year, instead of every month as was previously the case.
Riot Games believes that a gaming name should be something special and that you should think carefully when choosing it. That's why they are introducing a restriction on changing Riot IDs - now, it can be done only once every 365 days (previously, it was every 30 days). This decision has both technical and financial justifications. For those wishing to change their Riot ID more frequently than once a year, a fee of 10 dollars in in-game currency will be required.
The limitation will take effect for all players on November 20, 2023. Initially, the paid change will only be available in the currencies of LoL and LoR. The developers also understand that this is a massive change, so they will periodically offer free name changes.
