A key change for the 2024 season will be the introduction of the Advanced Stage - a promotion and relegation phase, where teams that finished at the bottom in the Split 1 Main Stage will compete for the right to participate in Split 2 alongside Premier teams.
Registration for VCJ 2024 Split 1 will be open from January 3 to January 14, while Premier registration will take place from January 8 to January 14. The first split will run from January 22 to March 31, and the second split will commence in April and conclude on July 28. The team winning the Split 2 playoffs will earn the opportunity to advance to the VCT Ascension Pacific 2024, a competition representing a step towards inclusion in the league.
Maintaining the format from the previous season, the Advance Stage will take place in 2024 after the conclusion of Split 1, involving teams from VALORANT Challengers Japan and Premier teams. At this stage, teams that lost in the Split 1 Main Stage will face off against Premier teams for the right to participate in the VALORANT Challengers Japan Split 2. Teams aiming to join Challengers and proceed to Split 2 must defeat Premier teams to earn the right to participate in the Advance Stage.
VALORANT Challengers Japan is designed to provide young and promising teams with the opportunity to participate in international competitions alongside the VCT season.

Regular season: February 3 to March 10, 2024
- 8 teams, round-robin system
- All matches in bo-3 format
- Top 2 teams advance to the upper bracket final
- Teams ranked 3rd to 6th go to the lower bracket quarterfinals
Playoffs: March 12 to March 31, 2024
- 6 teams in double-elimination bracket
- 2 teams in the upper bracket, 4 teams in the lower bracket
- Lower bracket final and grand final matches are played offline.
