Riot Games faces wave of criticism from fans following Valorant Champions Tour announcement

After the announcement of the Valorant Champions Tour, fans of the esports game Valorant expressed their criticism of Riot Games on social media, having justified reasons for their dissatisfaction.

Riot Games fans are raising a major question: "Why will Tier 1 teams again have so few matches in the season?" This is a justified concern, as looking at the upcoming events, it appears that most teams will play around 12 matches in 2024. However, the head of esports has a response to this question.

We’re expanding the calendar next year to space things out and shorten the offseason. But we like the baseline number of matches each team currently play, and we’re not looking to increase that. Ultimately, fans want to see the best teams play more, and those teams make it to global events. Add Challengers and Game Changers, there’s a lot of VAL to watch.
Leo Faria, head of Valorant Esports

Leo Faria responded that they are actively working and seeking the optimal solution to increase the number of matches in the season without deteriorating their quality or changing the format to Bo1, which could negatively affect the performance of the teams. He also added that in addition to the franchised league, there will be a series of matches in the Challengers League, Game Changers, and other tournaments.

While fans received an answer to their question, they remain dissatisfied with the state of the discipline, which has not undergone significant changes compared to last year. Thus, they will once again have to settle for a limited number of matches of their favorite teams.
