The year 2025 brings exciting changes to the VCT competitive ecosystem, including the new Challengers season set to kick off in January. Key milestones include Ascension in October and final tournaments in December. Organizers promise to increase the number of competitions and opportunities for aspiring talent, providing players with a platform to develop their skills and gain recognition.
Key Updates:
Additional Regular Season Stage
In 2025, an extra competition stage will be added before Ascension. This will reduce downtime in the calendar and enhance opportunities for teams to transition from Premier to VCT within a single season.
Changes to Ascension
Winners of Ascension will be able to remain in the International League (IL) based on their performance:
- Extension: Teams qualifying for Champions (top 4 in IL) will gain an additional year of participation.
- Fight for Place: The top 8 teams will defend their spots through Ascension matches.
- Relegation: Teams that fail to make playoffs (bottom 4) will return to their regional Challenger League.
Academy Teams
Partner teams will be allowed to establish Academies to nurture talent. While these Academy teams cannot participate in Ascension, they will become an integral part of the Challengers ecosystem.
Path from Premier
The "Path to Pro" format remains unchanged. Players can begin their journey in Premier, advancing through the Contender and Invite divisions to earn a chance to compete in Challengers, Ascension, and potentially the International Leagues.
Organizers emphasize that each regional league will have unique formats, with more details to be revealed as the season approaches.
The 2025 season marks a pivotal step in the evolution of Valorant's competitive ecosystem, strengthening the connection between various tournament levels and offering players a clear and structured path to the top.
