Paper Rex will be competing in the next VCT 2024 season without Jinggg

It was recently revealed that a main roster player of Paper Rex, Wang "Jinggg" Jing Jie, will become an inactive member of the team after the World Championship in 2023. The reason for this is military service, which is mandatory in Singapore, as reported by the news portal Dexerto.

Jinggg is originally from Singapore where the country's legislation mandates all male citizens to undergo compulsory military service. Wang will be no exception; after the end of the current season, he will move to the inactive roster of the team and will not participate in the upcoming VCT 2024 competitions.

Jinggg himself commented on the situation and said that he doesn’t know what his future holds. Even if it turns out that he can never play Valorant again, he is still happy that his path crossed with the team.

If this is my last tournament and I never return, I am simply proud of all the teammates who have walked this journey with me. I hope the fans just... remember the era of Paper Rex.

Recall that Paper Rex were a step away from the championship title at Valorant Champions 2023. The Singaporean team was one of the tournament's favorites, easily advanced from Group A, made it to the playoffs, and reached the grand final through the upper bracket, where they faced the Americans, Evil Geniuses. After 4 maps, the latter emerged as winners, and Paper Rex secured the silver championship for 2nd place and a cash prize of $400,000. You can read more about the match in our material.
