The regular season in each competitive region is coming to an end, and the most exciting playoff stage has just begun. Yesterday, two matches took place in the VCT 2024: EMEA Stage 1, determining the two teams advancing to the next stage.
The first clash was between regional favorites Fnatic and the less successful Team Liquid, but despite the stats of both teams, the match was fiercely contested. On the first map Ascent, the favorites, though not without problems, confirmed their title with a 13-11 victory. On the second map Icebox, Team Liquid took the initiative and won 14-12 in overtime. The match was decided on Lotus, where the “Oranges” easily defeated their opponent 13-5.
In the second match, the top two teams of group Omega, NaVi and Team Heretics, faced off, and the result was quite unexpected. Although many players considered the Ukrainian team the favorites, Team Heretics outplayed their opponents on two maps, Lotus 13-11 and Split 13-9, securing a place in the next round of the playoff stage.
As a result, Team Heretics and Fnatic advance to the upper bracket semifinals, where they will compete today against their opponents for a spot in the final. NaVi and Team Liquid, in turn, leave the tournament in 5th-6th places, earning 3 and 4 EMEA Points respectively.
