The first match took place between NAVI and LOUD and it was quite thrilling and intense. Interestingly, all three maps ended with the same score, suggesting the teams are almost evenly matched in strength, yet the Brazilians turned out to be slightly stronger. It's also noteworthy that both teams lost to DRX during the group matches. This implies that, contrary to popular rumors, the group favorites from the very beginning were not the "Yellow-Blacks" or the reigning world champions, but the Korean club.
In the second match, we saw a clash between the championship underdogs. Both FUT Esports and T1 had high odds of winning as set by bookmakers prior to the tournament's start. As a result, the Turkish squad advanced to the playoffs primarily due to the low skill level of teams in their group. Among the four participants, only EG can be considered a strong team. Nevertheless, FUT Esports proved to be stronger than the T1 Koreans, so much so that they didn't even need to move on to a third map.
Following the matches, NAVI and T1 exit the current championship, taking joint 9th-12th places and receiving a prize fund of $30,000. Meanwhile, LOUD and FUT Esports advance to the playoffs, where they join four other teams. They all have the opportunity to rest and prepare for the next phase, which begins on August 16. Of the 16 teams, only the 8 strongest will remain, fighting for the champion's title.
