More spots for participants in the GC Championship 2024: Leo Faria responds to criticism from Brazilian fans and players

As part of the Game Changers program, Riot Games has announced an increase in the number of participants in the GC Championship tournament in 2024. This decision has elicited positive reactions within the community, but it has also faced criticism from Brazilian fans and players due to the lack of additional slots for players from their region.

During the discussion with Valorant Esports director Leo Faria on the social network X, he explained that the decision on allocating spots is based on various factors such as the size of the player base, the number of teams, and previous competitive experience. Faria also emphasized that the company views regions as part of broader territories rather than individual countries, and therefore the distribution of spots is as follows: 4 for the Americas, 3 for EMEA, 2 for Pacific, and 1 for China.

Game Changers Brazil falls under the "Americas" region. Despite this, their teams continue to compete in a separate cycle, not engaging in battles with American or Latin American counterparts. Riot Games has not yet commented on the possibility of merging all regional leagues within Game Changers.
