On the Reddit platform, the Valorant community has initiated a discussion regarding recent changes in the game's map pool. Many players are unhappy and continue to criticize the developers for the imbalance on the Icebox map, which recently returned to the pool.
The majority of the community discussion is focused on criticizing Icebox, but there are also players who like the map's rework. In January 2024, Haven was replaced in the competitive mode by the Icebox map, which had been absent from the game for a year.
The state of the game is actually pretty decent; I have no major complaints about agent or weapon balance, but the map pool makes me hesitant to queue up. It feels like every time the wind approaches the sunset, I want to do something that I probably shouldn't talk about on Reddit.
Many players have expressed concerns about the extensive map pool, which only continues to grow over time. The community fears that Valorant will soon be filled with even more maps, leaving many players with no energy to learn them all.
Nevertheless, the more maps there are, currently 'only' 10, but they will keep increasing, imagine professional players needing to know how to play at a high level on 15 maps simultaneously; it would be simply impractical.
Thus, not all players welcome the addition of new content to the game or changes to the old. Most prefer to stick to what they have become accustomed to after several years of playing Valorant.
