M80 players heartbroken after another loss in Ascension Americas

The grand final of the VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Ascension Americas concluded yesterday, where 2G Esports defeated M80 with a 3-2 map score. This marks the second time M80 has fallen short of securing a spot in VCT Americas.

Why is a Victory in Ascension Americas So Crucial?

Winning the VCT 2024: Ascension Americas tournament can be a game-changer for both the players and the organization. The victorious team earns a place in the top league, where they get the opportunity to compete against the strongest teams in the Americas for qualification spots in international tournaments like Masters and Valorant Champions. Beyond the competitive recognition, participating in VCT significantly improves the team's financial standing, as Riot Games shares profits from themed skins and other revenue streams with the league's participants.

Unimaginable Emotions from the Players

After a grueling grand final, emotions were at their peak. Losing yet another chance to join VCT dealt a heavy blow to the team, especially to those who have faced defeat at the final hurdle two years in a row. Over the past year, the players poured their hearts and efforts into achieving their ultimate goal, only to see their dream slip away again. Some of the players shared their feelings on social media, emotions that were hard to put into words.

I’m so fucking sorry I can’t stop crying this is worse than last year this feeling I can’t even express it

2 years in a row

My dream was to make VCT so I can try to prove my self in the last couple of years I have as a player .. so much sacrifices this year to a point where I barely watched my little boy grow up some days , all I wanted was a PST schedule that would make me have time to see my family after practice this Challengers schedule is draining , months & months of hard work all to finish 2nd again .. I didn’t accomplish my goal as a father and thats what hurts me the most

The loss in the grand final was a significant blow to M80. The team, for the second time, found themselves just a step away from their dream. However, their performance speaks to their high level of play and potential for further development. This setback may fuel the players’ determination to return even stronger, and eventually, secure their long-awaited spot in VCT.
