"I don’t know who asked for that" - NRG Chet on Valorant balance changes ahead of VCT start

NRG's coach, Chet "Chet" Singh, recently gave an interview to esport.gg, where he shared his thoughts on Riot Games' decision to make significant balance changes in Valorant right before the Valorant Champions Tour season.

Chet "Chet" Singh expressed his dissatisfaction with the latest updates in Valorant, particularly due to changes to the agent Skye. Skye was not just a meta agent but central to the team's entire strategy. The radical changes to her ability Guiding Light (E), especially the removal of the recharge capability and the ability to throw a fake flash, forced professional teams to redo their strategies just weeks before the start of VCT.

I think all the changes affect each team equally honestly. I mean, with the Skye change being so random. I don't know who asked for that. It was not good for any team, because you're practicing a certain playstyle. That changes how the Agent is played. You have to play more committed on your flashes or you have to save them

Additionally, in the same patch that altered Skye's balance, developers also made changes to the Breeze map, reverting one of the positions to its previous state. It's worth noting that most took these changes in stride, as all teams are in the same situation.

Reminder that the NRG team will soon begin their journey in 2024. The debut tournament for the updated roster will be the VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Americas Kickoff. On February 16th, 11 American teams will start competing for 2 slots at VCT 2024: Masters Madrid and 3 Americas Points.
