The qualification stage for the first Masters of the year has only recently begun, but the tournament has already highlighted the main outsiders. Among them is the British squad GIANTX, which lost both matches in the group stage and exited the tournament.
This outcome is quite expected, considering the teams' performances last season. Although the current lineup is considered new, being formed from members of two organizations, they did not secure any prize places in major tournaments throughout 2023. After the failure at VCT 2024: EMEA Kickoff, the club's management apologized to the fans and stated that they would return in the future to rectify the situation.
It's worth noting that GIANTX started their tournament journey in Group A. Their first opponents were the players from Karmine Corp, who secured the victory with a score of 2-1. After that, the squad faced an elimination match, where they met the Turkish tops, FUT Esports, yesterday. The outcome was somewhat expected, leading to the outsiders losing again with a score of 1-2 and leaving the tournament.
VCT 2024: EMEA Kickoff is taking place from February 20th to March 1st, 2024. The 11 strongest partner teams are competing for two invitations to the upcoming Masters Madrid, as well as 3 EMEA Points necessary for qualifying for the World Championship.
