Gen.G Esports narrowly defeated tier-2 team True Rippers - Results of the first matches at Convergence 2023

The Valorant offseason is coming to an end, but there are still a few interesting events ahead. Today marked the start of Convergence 2023, taking place in India, and the tournament's first matches proved to be very exciting.

A total of six teams are participating in the tournament, divided into two groups. The first match in Group B took place today, a clash between the favorites Gen.G Esports and the outsiders from the Indian region, True Rippers. Although Gen.G Esports, thanks to their achievements during the competitive season, are considered a strong team, True Rippers showed an impressive performance and forced the favorites to put in their utmost effort to win.

The match was played in a best-of-three format. It started on the map Lotus, and Gen.G Esports failed to justify their map pick. In the first half of the match, the teams exchanged rounds and were neck-and-neck, but ultimately True Rippers overcame their opponents. After the first map, the audience began to support the Indian team, as defeating stronger opponents on their map was a notable achievement, but their joy was short-lived. On the second map, Gen.G Esports replicated their performance and decimated their opponents on their map Ascent with a double advantage of 13-6. The last map was very tense, and True Rippers again fought on equal terms with their opponents, but eventually lost in the additional rounds with a score of 12-14.

Remember that Convergence 2023 is taking place in a LAN format in India. Six teams, five of which received direct invitations, and one club that passed through regional qualifications, are competing for a large prize pool of $50,000 and the champion title.
