FunPlus Phoenix is the first team to leave Valorant Champions 2024

The group stage of Valorant Champions 2024 continues, and teams are still fighting for the right to stay in the tournament. However, for some, the tournament journey ends today, with the first club to exit being the representative from China - FunPlus Phoenix.

Just now, the elimination match in Group B concluded, where the American team Sentinels competed against the Chinese team FunPlus Phoenix for the right to stay in the tournament. Both teams had already lost one match in the group stage and were considered weaker compared to the other two participants due to their season results. Despite this, the match was quite interesting, although it went entirely one-sided.

On their chosen map, Bind, the Chinese team confidently started by winning three rounds in a row but then gave away four rounds to their opponents. After that, FPP took five rounds in a row but couldn't maintain their advantage. Sentinels successfully won nine rounds and claimed victory with a score of 13-8. On the second map, Lotus, it was absolute domination by the American team. They only lost two rounds at the beginning and three in the middle of the match, and successfully emerged victorious with a score of 13-5. As a result of the match, FunPlus Phoenix leaves the tournament in 16th place and earns $20,000. Sentinels, in turn, advance to the decisive match, where on August 10 they will meet with Gen.G Esports for a spot in the playoff stage.

Valorant Champions 2024 takes place from August 1 to 25, 2024, in Seoul. Sixteen partner teams, four from each competitive region, will compete for a total prize pool of $2,250,000, as well as for the title of world champion and the strongest team for the next year.
