Tonight marked the beginning of the first stage of the competition in the Game Changers women's league in North America. Following one of the playoff matches, spectators noted an incredible match by Shopify Rebellion and their star player Ava "florescent" Eugene.
It's noteworthy that the first stage of VCT 2024: Game Changers North America is part of the regular season in the women's division. Teams enter the tournament through open qualifiers. At the event, they compete for a total cash prize, as well as NA Points, which are necessary for advancing to the second stage and major tournaments. After all the qualifications, the playoff stage begins, the second match of which provided an interesting spectacle. In one of the quarterfinal upper bracket clashes, the reigning world champions Shopify Rebellion met the less known team Supernova Galaxy, and the latter suffered a devastating defeat.
Although the match's outcome was quite predictable, no one could have anticipated the significant score difference. On the first map Sunset, the favorites from Shopify Rebellion won with a score of 13-2, and on the second map Icebox, they didn’t allow their opponents a single round, winning with a score of 13-0. Ava "florescent" Eugene particularly stood out, finishing the two maps with an overall KD ratio of 56/9. Such figures stand out, especially compared to the opponents, as one of the Supernova Galaxy players ended the two maps with a KD of 3/28.
The winners of the match now advance to the upper bracket semifinals, where they will face the team Decimate tonight, for the right to claim the first slot in the tournament final. Considering the previous achievements of Shopify Rebellion and their level of play, it can be confidently assumed that this encounter will also end in a victory.
