Daeda and Wawa leave T1's coaching staff

The Korean organization T1 continues to make changes to its Valorant roster, as announced on their official social media channels. Yesterday, coach Jacob "Daeda" Hale left the team, and a few days ago, the team parted ways with head manager Won "Wawa" Joon Choi.

Recent roster changes

These changes further confirm that the organization is planning to revamp its roster ahead of the upcoming offseason. It’s worth noting that T1 finished 7th at the recent VCT 2024: Pacific Stage 2 tournament. This result did not allow the team to qualify for the current world championship, effectively ending the Korean club’s run in this VCT season. Following this, the team began making initial changes, parting ways with two core players. You can read more about this in our report.

Daeda and Wawa's journey with the team

The first to leave the team was general manager Won "Wawa" Joon Choi, who had been with T1 since as far back as 2019 when the organization didn't even have a Valorant roster. Once the roster was formed, he assumed the managerial role and led the team for four years. On the other hand, Jacob "Daeda" Hale joined the coaching staff in mid-February 2024. During this time, he helped the team secure 3rd place at VCT 2024: Pacific Stage 1 and 11th-12th place at VCT 2024: Masters Shanghai.

T1 Fans’ reactions

After the announcement of these changes, the club’s fans reacted quite ambiguously. Some fans generally supported the management's decision, arguing that the team's performance this season was quite low and that changes were simply necessary. However, there were also those who believed that the current roster was strong enough and had simply been unlucky.

After the conclusion of the ongoing Valorant Champions 2024, the competitive Valorant scene will enter the offseason. We will have to wait for the first tournaments involving the Korean team to find out whether the roster changes were justified and who will join the club in the future.
