"Competing on the professional stage is not the best for my future" - Edu ends his career in Valorant

Another sad news for all fans of the competitive Valorant scene in Latin America. Today, 18-year-old professional player Edgar "Edu" Ovalle announced that he is ending his career in the Riot Games shooter.

In his official Twitter account, Edgar analyzed his path in Valorant. The esports athlete reported that the situation did not turn out very well, and he assumes that there will be no progress in the future. Therefore, in order not to ruin his life, Edu made the difficult decision to leave the discipline and focus on his studies. The player said goodbye to all colleagues and fans, and also thanked his only club, of which he was a part for a year.

After much thought, I decided to stop participating in competitions and focus on my studies. The situation did not turn out very well, and it is unlikely to improve in the future, so I don't think continuing is the best for my future. I just have to thank all the people who were part of this short but very exciting journey. I carry them in my heart and will always remember all these good moments.

Edgar "Edu" Ovalle - an 18-year-old Guatemalan player, started his path in Valorant in October 2022 with the academic roster of FUSION. Thanks to his professional play, as a newcomer, Edgar moved to the club's main roster in just 5 months. During his time there, he managed to win several silver trophies, 2nd places at: Valorant Challengers 2023: LAN Split 1, Copa Operator LAN #2, Valorant Challengers 2023: Latin America. But Edu failed to win any championship title, which is his main disappointment.

Although Edgar stated that he is completely leaving the discipline, there is a possibility that he will return in the future. In the comments under his statement, a fan asked the player to study and improve himself and his skills in Valorant, to which Edu agreed. Therefore, we may see the return of the Guatemalan esports athlete in the future.
