Cloud9 parts ways with wippie after a disappointing start to the new Valorant season

American organization Cloud9 has officially said goodbye to one of its Valorant players following a disappointing performance at the first tournament of 2024.

Cloud9, one of the partner teams in the American VCT league, participated in the VALORANT Champions Tour 2024: Americas Kickoff tournament. Despite successful transfers before the season and decent roster results during the off-season, the tournament turned out to be a failure for the club. The team placed 7th-9th, winning only one series in a best of 3 format.

Maxim "wippie" Shepelev is leaving the team and becomes a free agent. It's hard to predict who will replace him in the team, as the season has already started and all teams have formed their rosters from the best free agents.

Free agent starting today. My time with C9 did not go as planned but I am thankful to them, my teammates and the fans for the opportunity and support.
Maxim "wippie" Shepelev

Current Cloud9 roster

Despite the challenging situation for Cloud9, the team has enough time to find a worthy replacement as the next tournament only starts in April. This will be one of two leagues in 2024 where a spot in the next Masters tournament will be contested.
