Acend routed their opponents CGN Esports in the grand final of Mandatory Cup #3

The Valorant offseason is nearing its logical conclusion, and with it, most local tournaments are wrapping up. Yesterday saw the grand final of the third stage of the European tournament, Mandatory Cup #3, and the result was quite predictable.

In the last match of the event, we witnessed a clash between the former European scene top dogs Acend, who were the winners of the first Valorant World Championship, and their regional colleagues CGN Esports. Despite the grand final being in a best-of-five format, and all viewers expecting a tense fight, the result turned out to be quite dull. Even though Acend has been losing ground in the tier-1 scene lately, they still remain a top-3 team in the region, which they proved with an easy victory.

The first encounter began on Haven, chosen by CGN Esports. Only the map choice saved the team from a complete rout, as the German team felt quite confident. However, in the end, the team could not justify their choice and suffered their first defeat with a score of 8-13. The second map, Split, was the choice of Acend, and there, nothing could save the opponents from a rout with a score of 13-4. The third and coincidentally last map was Sunset, and the situation there resembled a real grand final. In the first half of the match, the opponents exchanged rounds, and CGN Esports even won this exchange. But after switching sides, Acend easily took the initiative and won the map with a score of 13-10.

As a result of the match, Acend become the tournament winners and earn the main prize of €15,000. In turn, CGN Esports become the runners-up, but do not receive any prize. It should be noted that Mandatory Cup #3 took place from December 13th to 19th in an online format. 12 teams fought for a single prize pool, which ultimately went only to the winner.
