In competitive, players can queue within 5 ranks (or 2 ranks in Immortal+). In unrated and other modes, anyone can play together

Basically, if you're in Iron to Ascendant, you can queue with players up to 3 ranks above or below you. Immortal and Radiant have stricter limits

If you're Iron, you can queue with anyone who's also suffering. Radiants, meanwhile, live in their own exclusive club

In Valorant, rank restrictions are like party invitations—you can't bring a plus-one unless they're on the list. So, if you're Iron, don't expect to queue with your Radiant friend unless you have three more buddies to form a full squad

Up to Immortal, you can play with friends within 3 ranks (e.g. Gold 1 can play with Silver 1 to Plat 1). 5-stacks can include any ranks, but RR gains might be reduced if the rank gap is big. Immortal+ can only duo, and both players must be Immortal or higher. If you’ve got a mixed-rank group, 5-stacking is your best bet. Hope that clears it up!
