What is gear in Valorant?

Each agent in Valorant has their own set of gear that can be unlocked by completing the character’s contract. As of April 2025, there are 27 agents in the game, and this number keeps growing, along with the variety of cosmetic items. Each agent receives unique gear, which usually includes the following items:

  • Skins – exclusive weapons unlocked at level 10 of the contract.
  • Sprays – graphic elements that can be applied during matches.
  • Player Cards – unique illustrations for your profile.
  • Gun Buddies – decorative elements for weapons.
  • Titles – text elements displayed under your nickname.
  • Currency – most agents receive a reward in the form of Kingdom Credits at level 5 of the contract.

Unlock the agent

Before you can access Gekko’s gear, you must unlock the character himself. This can be done for 1000 Valorant Points (VP) if you don’t want to spend time, or for free by collecting 8000 Kingdom Credits (KC). KCs are earned by playing different game modes, completing daily quests, or receiving rewards from other agents’ contracts.

Tips for quick progress

To unlock all of Gekko’s gear, you’ll need to earn a significant number of Kingdom Credits. Here are some effective ways to speed up the process of getting the desired rewards:

  • Complete quests: daily quests allow you to earn a considerable amount of currency without spending too much time.
  • Play in a team: in some modes like ranked or unranked, you get more currency for winning rounds. So by gathering a good team, you can win more and thus earn more Kingdom Credits.
  • Read our guides: if you’re eager to get the desired item quickly, you can read our other material where we explain in detail how to earn Kingdom Credits quickly and efficiently.

Is Gekko’s gear worth it?

Gekko’s gear has more cons than pros compared to other characters. Its only advantage is the themed items that reflect the essence of the agent well. The main reward – the "Wayfarer" skin for Shorty – looks bright and attractive, but with a large arsenal of skins for this weapon, including premium ones from collections like Oni or Promordium, it loses its value, and players usually ignore it.

If you’re a Gekko fan, it’s worth completing the entire contract to show your dedication to the character. But if your goal is to get the best cosmetic items, we recommend checking out our material dedicated to the best gear in Valorant.
