Y10S1 in Rainbow Six Siege: Reputation System, New Graphics Drivers, and Release Date

The new season dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the tactical shooter Rainbow Six Siege kicks off today. A day before the event, the developers shared details on their official social media about what players can expect with the release of Y10S1. Below, we break down the key updates.

What’s Coming with Y10S1

At the end of February 2025, an official video trailer was released on Rainbow Six Siege's social media, announcing the new season. It revealed that the event would be called Operation Prep Phase and would introduce several major changes to the game.

Reputation System

The first and arguably most important update is the introduction of the reputation system. This system was first tested in beta during Season 9, but with Y10S1, it will be officially launched. The system aims to separate regular players from toxic ones, enforcing penalties or rewards accordingly.

Consequences for negative players:

  • Restricted access to Ranked, Standard, and Siege Cup matches
  • No access to Ranked game rewards
  • XP and Renown penalties of -50% or -25%

Rewards for positive players:

  • +1 bonus Ranked point per match
  • +2 bonus Ranked points per match
  • +3 bonus Ranked points per match
  • Operator card background “Esteemed”
  • Operator card background “Exemplary”

Transition to DX12

Another significant change is related to game performance. With the launch of Y10S1, Rainbow Six Siege will fully transition to DX12. This move is aimed at improving overall performance and unlocking more possibilities for developers, including better anti-cheat measures.

To make this transition, our team needs to focus on technologies that will help us achieve this goal. Moving to DX12 is essential; we can now concentrate on a single API, allowing us to optimize the game, support future rendering technologies for greater immersion, enhance our anti-cheat efforts, and create strategic opportunities.

However, it's worth noting that the game currently runs on DX11, and according to developers, only 1.4% of players may have difficulty switching to the new version.

As of now, only 1.4% of PC players cannot transition to DX12, and we hope they will be able to do so as soon as possible. Based on your feedback, we delayed this decision to ensure the smoothest transition for as many players as possible. Today, we can confirm that our collaboration with the community during Y9S4 has helped resolve performance issues related to DX12 implementation—just in time for the Y10S1 update.

New Battle Pass

Along with the new season, a brand-new Battle Pass will be introduced, featuring skins, weapon charms, portraits, and much more. You can find more details about the Y10S1 Battle Pass content in our dedicated article: Ubisoft Reveals Details of the Y10S1 Battle Pass.
