Ubisoft Reports Ban Statistics and Increased Complaints After Latest Patch

The R6 ShieldGuard system issued a record number of bans at the start of 2025, but the Y10S1.1 update triggered a concerning rise in cheating activity. Ubisoft has shared how they are adapting to this new wave of infractions.

In January 2025, the total number of permanent bans peaked at nearly 19,000. Of these, approximately 12,000 were through ShieldGuard, with the remainder via BattlEye. In February, the numbers sharply dropped to less than 7,000, coinciding with the release of patch Y10S1.1. By March, Ubisoft ramped up anti-cheat activity again, issuing over 6,500 permanent bans, nearly all through ShieldGuard.

However, there was also an increase in complaints about cheaters on PC. After a steady decline throughout Y9S3, a new surge began with the release of Y10S1.1 in February. The graph shows that from February 2024 to October 2024, the number of affected matches gradually decreased, but by December, it started rising again. By December, the number of incidents increased by about 1.5 times compared to the autumn lows.

Ubisoft attributes this increase to changes in the protection system and has announced improvements to the new technology introduced in Y10S1. This involves strengthening the game code—a measure intended to prevent cheats from integrating into the game process.

Among other actions is the elimination of lag exploits (artificially created delays), which were especially common on consoles. In Y10S1, these exploits were addressed thanks to community efforts and the R6Fix platform.

Ubisoft also confirmed that the fight against the use of mouse and keyboard on consoles (via Xim, Cronus, and similar devices) is ongoing. After the launch of crossplay, complaints increased, but thanks to MouseTrap, complaints decreased by 20%. However, the issue with recoil suppression cheats remains unresolved— the company is actively researching this area.

Finally, Ubisoft introduced a future update system for Siege X. Now, critical security patches will be installed without maintenance—simply by prompting a client restart after a match. This will create additional challenges for cheat developers.

The average effectiveness of ShieldGuard is confirmed by the numbers: since the beginning of 2025, the system has issued twice as many bans as in the same period in 2024. And according to the team's statements, this is just the beginning.
