ThourCS2 conducted tests on how FPS drops with a new Valve feature

In the latest beta update of Steam, a feature has been introduced that allows players to save their best gaming clips and download them directly to their devices. Blogger ThourCS2 conducted tests and shared the results with the community regarding the game's performance. ThourCS2, a renowned blogger in the Counter-Strike community, decided to independently test how the new recording system impacts game performance. Here's what he found:

  • Average FPS without recording: 372 FPS
  • Average FPS with background recording: 350 FPS
  • Percentage decrease: 6%

Despite the recording being activated, performance remains high, showing only a 6% decrease in FPS, which is a small price to pay for the ability to save quality gaming moments.

Frame Time Analysis:

  • Average frame time without recording: 2.7 ms
  • Average frame time with background recording: 2.9 ms

The increase in frame time is minimal, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable gaming experience even during recording. ThourCS2 highly rated the new feature, emphasizing that the ability to save all game recordings from the last 120 minutes in high quality is worth the slight reduction in FPS. This feature not only enhances the gaming experience but also provides content creators with valuable material for their channels. The community's reaction was unanimous; everyone is pleased with this update and will be using it.
